Graduation, Prom and other spring Scotus activities rescheduled

Rescheduling Spring Activities

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic many spring activities at Scotus Central Catholic were either postponed or canceled. Listed below you will find an update for those activities with either new dates scheduled or the cancellation of the activity. As a school, we appreciate the patience and understanding of our school community. It has been a difficult process, and we have been diligent in our efforts to provide our students, especially our seniors, with an opportunity to experience these events.

If the Governor’s Directed Health Measures allow for 250 people to gather in one place on June 1, 2020 then graduation will be scheduled for June 27, 2020 at 1pm.

If the DHM does not meet that requirement on June 1,2020, Scotus Central Catholic will then move to the second option.

The second option would be, should the DHM allow for 250 people to gather as of July 13, 2020 then graduation will be scheduled for August 1, 2020 at 1pm.

On May 10, 2020 the day graduation was scheduled to happen, the senior slide show will be released. A link to this video will be sent out via email and social media. The school is also currently discussing other plans to honor our seniors that day.

If the DHM meets the 250 people allowance on June 1, 2020 then Prom will be scheduled on June 13, 2020. The prom will run from 8pm-11pm. There will not be a meal served at this event.

In the event that the June date is not available and if the DHM on July 13, 2020 allows for 250 people to gather, the Prom will be held on July 25, 2020. The times will once again be from 8pm-11pm. No meal will be served.

Spring NSAA Activities

The NSAA has announced that all spring NSAA activities have been canceled. The only NSAA activity that is scheduled is State Journalism. This will be on Thursday April 23 at noon. Results will be released online by the NSAA.

Academic Recognition Night

The event is scheduled for May 6, 2020 at 7pm. This year the event will recognize only seniors and athletic award winners. A prerecorded video will be released that evening by Scotus Central Catholic that will recognize the accomplishments of our seniors. A link to this video will be emailed to all parents and students and will be made available via the school’s social media accounts. Students in grades 7-11 will be recognized at an assembly next August.

She will manage student internships, bring career education into the curriculum and will be teaching a STEAM career class with Betsy Rall.

Congratulations Bridget, we know you will do great in your new position!

With new faces coming to Scotus next fall, we say goodbye to a few familiar faces.

Mrs. Bomar, Mrs. Blaser and Mrs. Weir are retiring. They have combined for over 60 years of experience at Scotus Central Catholic.

Mrs. Bomar brought stability to our Spanish program and has been such a positive light on our school and students. We are very lucky to call her a Shamrock, even if she graduated from Aquinas. 😉

Mrs. Blaser came to Scotus straight out of college. She brought out the best in the classroom and on the volleyball court. She set high expectations in everything she did and that attitude has been instilled in our entire staff.

Mrs. Weir has put in a lot of work in the guidance office. Since 1999, her friendly smile and willingness to work with students and to get them on the right path made her so valuable. With helping build schedules to assisting students in college planning, she has done it all.

Please give your wishes to these three as they enter retirement! Share some of your favorite memories if you would like as well. Scotus is so lucky to have had all three of these fine educators walk our halls. #TheScotusWay #GoRocks
