STAR PEO

Female exhibiting leadership in academics, extracurricular activities, community service, GPA 3.0 or higher, US citizen, plans to attend post-secondary school in the fall (full or part-time), 2 recommendations along with a local PEO chapter recommendation. WENDY’S

Participate in at least one of the 47 sports recognized by the International Olympic Committee, be a leader in school and community.

HORATIO ALGER
Due: 10/25/2018 – Amt: vup to $25,000
Full time college fall enrollment, commitment to complete Bachelor’s degree, demonstrate financial need, US citizen, GPA 2.0+, involvement and character.

ACT Student Champion Award
Due: 010/31/2018 – Amt: $500
One student recipient from each state, graduating class of 2019, ACT 22+, articulate education, career goals and have overcome challenges.


November Scholarships

Jeffrey S. Raikes School of Computer Science and Management
Due: 11/02/2018 – Amt: Varies, may include partial housing costs, books, academic competitiveness
is a unique program developing world-class innovators and leaders through an interdisciplinary computer science and business management honors education. Raikes School students are selected from the nation’s top high school graduates. The average ACT score for a student at the Raikes School is a 33.5 (SAT a 1480 for combined two tests of Critical Reading and Math).

RHOP
(Rural Health Opportunities Program) is designed to address the special needs of rural Nebraska by encouraging rural residents to pursue a career in the health care fields. Students selected are guaranteed admission to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) as long as all stated requirements are met and the pre-professional studies at Chadron State College (CSC), Wayne State College (WSC) or Peru State College (PSC) are completed. APPLY TO ONLY ONE!

RLOP
(Rural Law Opportunities Program) aims to ensure all Nebraskans have access to legal representation by encouraging the practice of law in the state’s rural communities. Through the program, students from certain Nebraska areas will study at one of three Nebraska State Colleges or Universities, obtain their legal education at Nebraska Law and then practice in rural areas throughout the state. RLOP was established through a partnership between the University of Nebraska College of Law and Chadron State College, the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Wayne State College.

Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub
Due: 11/15/2018 – Amt: Tuition, books, room, board & university fees (4 years)
Applicants with an ACT of 30 or higher, and a high school grade point average of at least 3.85, are eligible to apply for the Omaha World Herald/Kearney Hub scholarship. This is UNK’s most prestigious scholarship.


December Scholarships

Fireside Essay Competition
Due: 12/05/2018 – Amt: (5) $1,000
Fireside Catholic Publishing will recognize five Catholic High School Seniors who are “Putting their Faith into Action” daily. Only one student per school may enter. Turn your essay into Guidance by December 5th. Essay topic: How is your Religious Education Influencing your Life?

Elk’s Vocational
Due: 12/31/2018 (5pm) – Amt: varying
Graduating senior, US citizen, intending to study a vocation program. If you apply for this scholarship, you can’t apply for the Elk’s MVP. All Vocational applications should be mailed or hand delivered to the local Lodge #1195, 5113-63rd Street Columbus, NE 68601


January Scholarships

Elk’s Past Exalted Ruler
Due: 01/15/2019 – Amt: (6) varying grants
Any graduating high school senior, basic emphasis is on need, be certain the exalted ruler has signed and dated the application, with students only able to apply to one Elks Lodge. Submit to 5113-63rd Street, Columbus, NE 68601.

J.B. Ferguson Golf
Due: 01/15/2019 – Amt: $500
Open to boys and girls that a part of the high school golf team and planning to participate in a college golf program. Applications must be returned to Elks Lodge #1195, 5113-63rd St Columbus, NE 68601.

SeniorAdvice Caregiver
Due: 01/15/2019 – Amt. $2,000
For students who have acted as caregiver to an adult relative in any capacity


February Scholarships

HYVEE
Due: 02/08/2019 – Amt: $1,000
Transcript, statement, resume, references, ACT scores.


March Scholarships

Bonnard Shadle Memorial
Due: 03/18/2019 – Amt: $500
A graduating senior planning to major in a technical trade. Completed application and a letter of support from either faculty, family or employer. Applications should be mailed to Jean Kamrath 13947 T Road, Shelby, NE 68662.

Erna Badstieber Foundation
Due: 03/18/2019 – Amt: $1,000-2,000 (renewable up to 4 years)
Graduating senior enrolled in accredited post-secondary school, activities, volunteerism, goals, academics, transcript and completed application.

Helen Shadle Nursing
Due: 03/18/2019 – Amt. $1,000
Graduating senior admitted to a nursing program, which can be LPN, RN or BSN. Scholarship can be applied to any legitimate education cost in a nursing program, inclusive of tuition, books, housing and fees. You do not need to include a teacher recommendation, but a current transcript is requested.
